Australian forms guide
myGov and Centrelink document upload limits
Services Australia explains how to upload Centrelink documents through your online account in myGov. These are the file rules it lists.
The rules
- Accepted formats: PDF, PNG and JPEG.
- The total size of all files for each upload must be less than 10 MB.
- You can include up to 10 files for each upload.
- Remove password protection from a document before uploading it.
Services Australia also asks that uploaded images are appropriate, and not distressing, offensive, or images of the body as evidence of injury.
Fixing common problems
- Total over 10 MB: the limit applies to all files in one upload combined. Compress photos with Compress to 200 KB, or shrink scanned PDFs with Compress PDF.
- More than 10 pages photographed separately: combine them into one PDF with Images to PDF, or join PDFs with Merge PDF.
- iPhone photos rejected: HEIC isn't one of the listed formats. Convert HEIC to JPG.
- Wrong format: WebP or other formats can be changed with the image converter.
Keep it legible
A smaller file is only useful if staff can read it. Take photos in good light with the page filling the frame, and zoom in on the compressed copy before you upload. All FileKivo tools run in your browser, so documents such as payslips and letters are never uploaded to us.
