How to convert to greyscale
- Choose one or more JPG, PNG or WebP images.
- Select Convert to greyscale.
- Download each black-and-white copy. PNG inputs stay PNG; other formats are saved as JPG.
When greyscale helps
Photos of printed forms and statements often compress smaller and look clearer once the colour is removed, especially when an upload form expects a plain black-and-white scan. After converting, use Compress an image or Compress to 200 KB if you still need a smaller file, or Images to PDF to bundle several pages.
Quality and privacy
Each image is drawn onto a canvas in your browser and the colour channels are averaged into greyscale. Nothing is uploaded. Because the image is re-saved, camera details such as a location tag are not copied into the new file. For a colour conversion instead, see the image converter.
Questions

- Can I convert several photos at once?
- Yes. Choose up to 20 images and they are all converted.
- Are my photos uploaded?
- No. Everything happens in your browser on your own device.
