How to resize an image without stretching
The current resizer uses a fit-inside rule. You choose a maximum width and height; the tool keeps the image's proportions and fits it inside that box.
A square limit does not make a square photo
For a 1600 × 900 image, setting both limits to 800 pixels produces 800 × 450. That is deliberate: making it 800 × 800 without cropping would stretch the original shape. This tool does not crop.
Choose the receiving app's limits
Enter the maximum width and height as whole numbers. This version accepts values from 1 to 8192 pixels, subject to its input limits. It does not enlarge small originals: an image that already fits stays at its original dimensions.
Dimensions and file size are different
A width of 800 pixels does not imply a file size of 800 KB. The resizer reports the actual size after export. For an additional upload-size limit, use the compressor on the resized copy and check the final dimensions again.
Use an original copy where possible
Download and inspect the result before submitting it. The current tool may change metadata or fine detail when exporting. An exact crop, a print-resolution requirement or an official photo specification needs checks beyond this proportional resizer.
